compression for http response

Hi Steve,

I want to know if gzip compression can be used for the http response.
I created a REST SDK http_listener proto and it looks good!

So next topics are compression and SSL.
Would be good if you could provide some information here.

Hi Ganesha,

Our http_listener doesn't have any built in support for compression. You will have to manually compress/decompress the data yourself. Regarding SSL, HTTPS support hasn't been implemented on all the platforms. Right now it only works on Windows.

In general the main focus of this library isn't so much on authoring services, but rather connecting to services. This is why our http_listener doesn't have a lot of features.

Hi Steve,

Windows is sufficient for me. Could you please elaborate a bit on how to get https working (both on listener and client side).

Hi Ganesha,

We support HTTPS on the client side with our http_client on ALL platforms, it is only with the http_listener that HTTPS works on Windows only. To use https simply specify the scheme of the URI when constructing the http_client or http_listener object to be https, for example 'https://www.google.com'.
