Cannot capture the http traffic in Fiddler

Feb 17, 2014 at 5:43 AM
Hi, I wrote a simple application using this SDK. It simply sends an http request to a remote server and gets the response. My application works fine. I get the correct response. The issue is I want to see the traffic in Fiddler but I cannot see anything there.

Anyone knows how to fix it? I'm working on Windows 8.1.

Hi Tiano,

Can you try taking a look at the instructions on Fiddler's site for using with Windows 8 applications:

http://docs.telerik.com/fiddler/configure-fiddler/tasks/ConfigureFiddlerForWin8

With I have no trouble capturing traffic on Windows 8.1.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply. I tried looking at the Win8 config on fiddler, but I didn't see any config related to this. Actually my application was simply a console application and I was running it from command line. Hope someone else may know about this.

Hi Tiano,

Ok if you are using a desktop application then you need to follow the instructions for WinHttp, the API we build on top of. It sounded like you were using a Windows 8 store application. Take a look here:

http://docs.telerik.com/fiddler/configure-fiddler/tasks/ConfigureWinHTTPApp

Basically there are two options:
  1. Configure a global proxy for all applications using WinHttp following the instructions above.
  2. In your code when constructing the http_client explicitly specify a proxy that should be used with the http_client_config class. Take a look at http_client_config::set_proxy(...).
