Hello,

we currently play with the december release - as I see in the new codeplex relase IIS-hosting capabilities and the self hosting server are gone. Is this true? What must I do to achive hosting in IIS/Azure or self hosting?

Martin,

The server-side features that you found in the MSDN DevLabs release, i.e. the HTTP listener, IIS integration, and Azure deployment, were temporarily removed from Casablanca. In order to get this out, we had to focus our efforts (we're a small team) on the client-side features and raise the quality of those first. We did not feel that the server-side features had received the amount of testing that would let us release them in good conscience at this time.

We will return to those features in the near future and release them here when they are ready and meet our quality threshold. In the meantime, please continue to use the December binary release.

We also separated the Azure client features from the general REST features. The Azure client features are very product-specific, and we didn't feel that they belonged with this general-purpose library. Those features will be released in another project in the future.

Finally, we removed the actors functionality, too. That may re-appear later as a separate project.

Thanks,

Niklas

Hi,

Were can I find the download of the incubation release of the server side features in the meantime? I have a couple of projects using them and I cannot load them in VS on new PCs (that don't have the original version of Casablanca installed).

Hi Yiannis,

The binaries for the server side features are still available in the 0.5 release of Casablanca. You can download them here. Keep in mind that some of those APIs have changed since that release.

Hi techabc,

At this time we don't have any more information about the actors portions. Right now our focus is on expanding our client support and starting to bring back some of the features that we left out of the last come of releases, like the http_listener.

Those of you who have strong opinions on what we should bring back into the SDK from the DevLabs release, I encourage you to fill out the survey at:
